Rick Linklater’s Collection and the Fire
Austin, TX-based filmmaker, Rick Linklater is a longtime collector of Phillip Trussell’s work. Over Labor Day weekend, 2011 a wildfire destroyed 34,000 acres in Bastrop, TX where Linklater has a retreat. He keeps many of Trussell’s paintings in his library there. 6 of the 11 structures on Linklater’s property were destroyed in the fire, luckily the library wasn’t one of them.
Rick and Jack Black are holding a benefit screening of their upcoming film, Bernie this weekend in order to raise money for those effected by the fire: Linklater discusses ‘Bernie’ benefit screening and fall-out from the wildfires
Philip’s friend Cat Brown sent this documentation:

Dear, Mr.Linklater the Rodriguez family is sincerly sorry for your losses. Good to know our mosaic work on the library is still standing, and if there is anything eles that we could do for you please let us know. We did sumit our bid to clean up all debris to the architect, unfortunately it did not work out. We were hoping to keep all business in bastrop.
Thank-you so much
-Pete Rodriguez Sr.&Jr.
